Product Description

The Suisin Momiji Funayuki are forged by Togashi Kenji, one of the few certified traditional knife craftsmen in Japan. They are hand finished with a wooden wheel and the blade is made with Shiro-ko steel. The Funayuki is a multi-purpose Japanese traditional knife. The name "Funayuki" or "Going on a boat" in Japanese comes from a tradition of fishermen, who kept a knife on their boats to clean fish to prepare their meals on their boats. The profile is similar to a Deba, however, the blade is much thinner than a Deba, making this a much more versatile, multi-purpose knife. Style: Funayuki, Steel Type: Shiro-niko Carbon Steel (Not Stain-Resistant), Saya Cover: Wooden Saya Cover included, Blade: Single-Edged, Available Size: 7.6", Handle Material: Magnolia, Bolster Material: Water Buffalo Horn, Weight: 4.5 oz, Hardness Rockwell C scale: 59-60.
